History :
On 01.10.1964 the JG 73 was renamed in JaboG 42, because it was planed to change from the Sabre Mk.6 to Fiat G.91.
Shortly after the beginning, the introduction of the G.91 was stopped because of technical problems. The already arrived aircraft were given back and so the JaboG 42 has to fly again with their older Sabre Mk.6.
But this time this elegant fighter was used as fighterbomber, the new role of the JaboG 42.

In 1967 the Fiat G.91 was introduced again.
To show the difference to the JaboG with the F-104 on 01.05.1967 the unit was renamed to LeKG 42.

The Wing was based at Pferdsfeld and equiped with the Fiat G.91.

Because of the introduction of the MDD F-4 F in 1975 the LeKG 42 was reformed as JaboG 35.
