In 1959, the 3. /WaSLw 10 at Oldenburg was build up with the F-86 K and shortly after the first
aircraft arrived, the unit was moved in 1960 to Leipheim AFB, where the Fighter Wing 75 should become
the first German All-Weather Fighter Wing. Changed plannings lead to another movement in 1961. This time to Neuburg AFB, where the unit was officially activated as JG 74 on 05.05.1961. Already in 1964 the first F-104 G Starfighter arrived and the reorganization began. But it lasts until January 1966 before the last F-86 K left Neuburg. During this two years the Wing was forced to handle both aircrafts parallel. In 1971 the Wing could celebrate the 100.000st flying-hour and in 1973 the JG 74 became it´s traditional name "Mölders". In 1974 the next generation of aircraft was introduced. The MDD F-4F made it´s first landing at Neuburg AFB. No one could know that this aircraft should fly more than 20 years at Neuburg. It lasted until July 2007, when the first Eurofighters landed in Neuburg. In June 2008 the Fly-Out of the MDD F-4F took place. (see Fly-Out F-4 F ) In 2005 the name "Mölders" was removed through political reasons. |
