History : |
JG 75 1960 - 1961 The JG 75 was formed from parts of the 3./WaSLw 10 and on 01.10,1960, the wing was officially activated at Leipheim. The JG 75 should become the first All-Weather-Fighter Wing of the young Luftwaffe and was equipped with the Fiat F-86 K. The plan was to move the wing to Neuburg, as sson as the airbase there was rebuild. As it came clear that through financial and personal reasons no 5th Fighter Wing could be build up, the JG 75 was renamed to JG 74 when it moved to Neuburg. JG 75 1991 - 1993 After the Reunification in Germany an Fighter Wing in the former eastern areas of Germany was needed. First the plan was to move the JG 72 to Laage, but in 1991 it was decided to build up new Fighter Wing, called JG 75. During the build-up the F-4 F's from JG 72 and JaboG 35, based periodically at Laage, should fullfil the need of Air Defence. On 27.06.1991 the new wing was formally activated at Laage. The build-up should be completed until end of 1994. But the plans were changed and it was decided to merge the JaboG 35 and the Mig-29 Test Wing to the new JG 73. So the JG 75 was disbanded already in April 1993. |
