In 1961 the Wing get´s his traditional name „Immelmann“. Shortly after the move to Machning in 1963 the older RF-84 F were phased our and the preparation for the new aircraft, the Lockheed RF-104 G begans. The changes lasts until 1965. In 1969 the Wing was moved to Bremgarten AFB, to get more place for the planned introduction of the new MDD RF-4E , an true all-weather-aircraft. But it last´s until 1971, when the first RF-4E landed in Bremgarten. But in 1972 the Wing with his new aircrafts was already combat-ready and was integrated in the NATO-Organisation. The traditional name was taken over by the new formed Tornado Recce Wing under the same name AG 51 Immelmann. |
