History : |
The WaSLw 50 was established in 1958 to train new pilots as recce-pilots. So the new unit was build up at Erding with RF-84 F and already in 1959 the first recce-units AG 51 and AG 52 were activated after the pilots have been trained in Erding. In 1964 the unit moved to Fürstenfeldbruck and the FFS "B", responsible for jet-training was integrated in the WaSLw 50. In 1967 the complete pilot-training was moved to USA and so the WaSLw 50 does again its original destination in training recce-pilots. With the introduction of the RF-4 E and the F-4 F there was a need for Weapon System Officers, so the training was established in Fürstenfeldbruck under the control of WaSLw 50. In 1973 the screening for new pilots was moved from the FAR at Neubiburg to the WaSLw 50. But already in 1978 cames the end of the WaSLw 50. With the introduction of the Alpha Jet the unit was transferred into a fighter wing and in 01.10.1978 the WaSLw 50 was renamed as JaboG 49. |
